AI Disclosure
Effective 22 April 2026
What Mara does
Mara is an AI-assisted marketing product. She reads public legal sources, classifies what's relevant to your firm, and drafts marketing content, LinkedIn posts, client alerts, blog articles, newsletter items, in your voice. A human (you) reviews and approves every draft before anything is published.
Models used
Mara uses Anthropic Claude models under the Anthropic API:
- Claude Opus, draft generation, editing, chat.
- Claude Haiku, classification and short utilities.
We operate under Anthropic's zero-data-retention configuration where available. We do not fine-tune or train foundation models on your content.
How drafts are grounded
- Every draft about a court decision is produced after fetching the decision's full-text excerpt from its official source (the court's own website where possible, AustLII as a backstop).
- Citations are validated against the source URL before the draft is persisted. Drafts that fail validation are discarded.
- The model is instructed not to invent case facts, statutes, judges, or citations. Where the excerpt doesn't say something, the draft doesn't say it.
- Voice comes from your existing content, drafts are conditioned on samples of your firm's own writing, not a generic house style.
What Mara is not
- Not a lawyer. Mara cannot and does not give legal advice. Drafts are marketing content about cases, not opinions on them.
- Not infallible. AI systems can hallucinate, misread context, mangle dates, or subtly misstate law. You must review every draft before publishing.
- Not a substitute for a lawyer's professional judgment on whether a given case is the right thing to comment on publicly, or on the reputational or regulatory implications of a post.
Your responsibilities
- Read every draft before you approve it. Drafts publish only after you click approve.
- Follow your Law Society / Legal Profession rules on advertising, client confidentiality, and public commentary on matters that are before a court.
- Confirm citations yourself on anything material. We validate the URL points at a real case; we do not verify the draft's characterisation of the judgment.
- If your bar/society or a platform requires an AI-assistance disclosure, add it.
Transparency
- Every draft links to the court's or regulator's original source URL. Readers can check the primary material.
- Mara's long-term memory about your firm is browsable and editable under /memory. You can delete any entry.
- Chat, drafts, and edits are stored against your firm's account. Deletion on request is described in the Privacy Policy.
